P3 tasks

LO2 - P3 -You need to critically compare existing reviews for a videogame you have not studied so far:

Find out what different reviews on Metacritic.com have said:

a) Genre (First person shooter, third person shooter, RPG, sports, platformer

b) Target audience - By age, gender, interests etc - appeal of game to target audience, audience relationship with similar games

c) Narrative/Storyline - Synopsis of storyline and its appeal to the audience

d) Characters - Character description, special characteristics, appeal to target audience

e) Gameplay - Game mechanics, challenges in the game, actions of the player

f) Platforms - Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3, Wii U, PC, iOS, Android, 3DS etc

g) Personal recommendation of reviewer - Reviewer's recommendation to reader/viewer, industry produced magazine or manufacturer produced magazine, eg. computer game review, online magazine, specialist magazine

P2 tasks

We are going to look at a range of different videogames and research information under the following headings – We are going to include 4 different games that have different audiences

P2 Learners analyse a range of existing computer/console game products, including:
(a) genre – What type of game is it? May need to define and explain why it is this genre

(b) narrative/storyline - What is the storyline behind the game?

(c) production process – How was it made? Cost? Process? Marketing? Distribution? (Physical or digital) DLC?

(d) characters – What characters feature in the game and what can you find out about them?

(e) gameplay – What are the features of the game? How do players interact with the storyline, what is their role? What makes this game special? “What do you have to do?”

(f ) target audience – Use what you have learnt about different audiences – not just age or genre based.

(g) platforms - What is it available on? Is it available both digital and physical?
